Page Size
It is very important to have your file set to the correct page-size for output to 35mm slides. Please see the directions below for each program. Be sure to leave a 1/4 inch margin on all four sides when creating your presentation. There is an additional charge of $1 per slide for files not set to 35mm.
Hardcopy
Fax us hardcopy of the slides you are imaging, so that we can compare them to the imaged slides. Hardcopy should be black text/graphics on white background. Use your software program's ability to print 6-up black-on-white handout pages of your file.
Fonts
Font compatibility may be an issue if you use fonts other than those supplied by the slide program or in Windows itself. If it is critical that the finished slides contain the exact font you used, you must make sure we have the font available. Let us know the exact names of the fonts you used, so we can help guarantee total compatibility.
Setting the Correct Page Size
Microsoft Powerpoint:
Set your Page Size before you make slides. Even at 35mm size, slides will print perfectly on your printer. Use the "35mm" choice in your Slide Setup (Releases 3, 4 & 7) or Page Setup (Powerpoint 97/2000) dialog box. Send us your native
.PPT file.
jpg, tga, pdf, tif & postscript files:
In making 35mm slides, it is recommended that you use a page size of "35mm." This option is available when the program you use has a 35mm sizing option. If your software does not contain a 35mm setting, you can usually set a custom page size of 11 x 7.33 inches, or some other measurement which has a ratio of 3:2.
Lotus Freelance 96 & 97:
Set your page size before you make slides. Even at 35mm size, slides will print perfectly on your printer. Use the "Setup for 35mm Slides" choice under the file menu. Send us only the native
.PRZ file.
Harvard Graphics for Windows:
Harvard Graphics does not directly support a 35mm page size. If you use an 8.5 x 11" driver, the "active" area does not take up the full width of the slide mount, and may result in small black borders on the left and right.
If you are unable to make the following settings, don't worry. We have developed work-arounds to make sure your slides will look fine. However, to ensure fewer problems with line breaks and other layout issues, we suggest you set your page size as follows:
Method 1
Select your usual hardcopy printer driver. Go to File · Presentation Setup. Making sure that the paper size is "letter," change your Top and Bottom margins by making the following calculation:
Add the Left and Right margins.
Double the resulting sum and add 3.5.
Now divide this last number by 6.
This last amount should be placed in both the Top and Bottom margin boxes. Press OK. It's fine to use these "Slide Margins" when printing your hardcopy too.
Method 2
Install any QMS Colorscript 100 Printer Driver, set to 8.5 x 11 page size, landscape orientation, connected to "File," with margin settings of top 1.28, bottom 1.28, left 1.27, right 0.83. (Notice how the formula in Method #1 works here too!). Send us only the native .PRS (Version 3.0) or .PR4 (Version 4.0) file.
